Time Out with... Elizabeth (Betsy) Corr
Wed Mar 2 2011
- What’s your philosophy on life?
I generally have a few depending on the circumstances: Feel the fear & do it anyway; Find something to enjoy in each day; Stress is a waste of energy
- What is the most valuable experience you have gained in your business roles?
To me, all experience is valuable. A good friend of mine always says “Every day is a school day” & she is right. There is always something new to be learned & we should glean something from every experience – good or bad.
One of the most important things I have learned over the years is never be aloof with client’s staff. They are the key to being able to do your job efficiently & effectively. A bit of humility will get you a long way.
- What’s the most challenging aspect of your work?
Time management – there are never enough hours in the day
- What drives you professionally and personally?
Both of those have different drivers for me:
Professionally, it’s the desire to do all tasks to the best of my ability
Personally, there are two things that drive me most. One is to be the best mother, role-model & mentor to my children that I can be, the other is the desire to become someone who others are comfortable enough to be themselves around without feeling judged.
- What goals haven’t you achieved yet?
Patience, but I’m getting there…
- What public figure, living or dead do you admire the most and why?
I tend not to latch on to public figures. They have their faults & shortcomings the same as the rest of us. I know people who have overcome adversity & done great things but who are not in the public eye. I admire them more.
- What place you’d like to visit that you haven’t yet and why?
Alaska to see the Northern Lights. It’s on my to-do list for my “later years”
